The Drogheda Independent reports on the volunteer group from Ulster Bank along with some guests, giving their time to hold a 'Crown Paint Party' as part of the Local Heroes campaign:-

The project has been supported by Crown Paints who donated the paint for the redecoration project. Local design architect Elaine Keogh planned the streetscape in consultation with the local retailers. It was all hands on deck as a team of Ulster Bank volunteers turned out to lend a hand and support to the industrious painters.

Chair of the Local Heroes Regeneration Team Con O'donoghue said: ' The Crown Paint Party has been a fantastic success. It's totally revitalised this end of West Street, which for many people really is the main entrance to the Town Centre. It has been a great team effort between Local Heroes and the Narrow West Street retailers. The streetscape has been totally transformed in the course of seven days.'

Mayor Kevin Callan who turned up to lend a hand said: 'I am so impressed with the volunteers from Drogheda Ulster Bank Branch who have given their Sunday to take part in the painting of Narrow West Street. There was a real buzz around the area with local traders involved in the project and there is a sense that life is being brought back to the area. I also wish to thank Crown Paints for their marvellous donation of paints for the project. There can be no doubt that the Local Heroes Campaign is bringing real results to the town centre area and the change this work will make to Narrow West Street will be there for everyone to enjoy in the run up to Christmas.'

Ulster Bank's Business Achievers Awards competition has also just closed, which recognises the achievements of business in Ireland, spilt into eight categories. The winners of this will be announced next year.
